My wife's parents live in Morganton, North Carolina. When we go up to visit from where we live in Georgia, I always stop at either Kings Mountain or the Cowpens Battlefield to see if there are any new books in their museum\book store for me to get. This past weekend, we actually went up a day early and stayed in a motel so that we would have time to actually tour the Kings Mountain Battlefield trail. It was awesome. I think that the National Park Service did an outstanding job. The circular 1.5 mile trail is complete with historical markers telling you which militia unit was where. We saw where Col. Ferguson fell in the battle and where he was laid to rest. There were some school groups present during our visit and the park rangers were doing an excellent job of explaining to them the differences between a musket and a rifle and their pros and cons as battlefield weapons. :hatsoff:
