What kind of wand? Like the metal detector at schools. It would just show metal. Unless an expensive one and a knowledgeable operator this would be a joke and easily defeated in court
Sophisticated metal detectors can tell the difference in metals. I can usually tell what coming up out of the ground by the tone, a scaled digital meter confirms suspicions.

Thanks to all for your responses. The legal part is available in "legalize". Anectdotal information is more useful in my world. We have a no-lead thing for waterfowl and hunting on waterfowl areas but some managed deer hunts and other types of hunting in certain areas is not really clear at this time.

Trying to get ahead of forseeable challenges before hunting seasons, possible new regulations, and how others are dealing with them is, I feel, important stuff. We have no condors but far more bald eagles than any time in my lifetime. Truth be known, probably more are killed while scavenging roadkill than ingesting lead, do-gooders may well try to apply the no lead thing to protect eagles. Don't know.

Cost? Performance on actual kills? Accuracy? Etc.
Other alternatives than bismuth?

Thanks again!
