Just finished a leather costrel to go with my F&I War era kit I'm working on, based on historical examples. It's been saturated with beeswax to waterproof and harden.

“Costrel” is a new word for me. I’m guessing it’s a type of canteen?
Regardless, yours looks really good. Nice even stitches and tight seams, and the parts ward well fitted together. I can appreciate fine craftsmanship even if I don’t know what the item is.

Thank you! Yes, a costrel is a kind of container for liquids. They go back to Roman times at least and could also be made of pottery. Some are personal size, some for household or tavern use. Some were even several gallons in size to hold the wine tax from inbound ships.
This is my second try at this kind of work (the first one self destructed when I tried to dry it in a low oven.) It wasn't terribly difficult, just had to think it through before starting.
Great work, you sure nailed the one at the auction house. Excellent job!
