I did a search for waxed Irish linen thread last night and found another company that seems fairly reasonable, in addition to the link that Swampy posted. They have 90 yard spools of 4 ply waxed linen thread for $7.50 plus shipping. Also, on a different companies web site, they said that Irish linen thread would be increasing in price in July....just a heads-up in case some were wanting to buy some. http://turtlefeathers.net/text/natural-products/linen.html

I actually reconize that site and have it book marked on my other comp. They don't show a white Linen waxed thread but do show a white synthetic Sinew. I suppose one could use the "Natural" for a more weathered, used look but I've always prefered working with White waxed thread and whatever color it took from dying, was it. :idunno: Guess it depends on what you prefer. :v

FWIW - I get 4 cord Barbour's Linen - 1354 yards of unwaxed natural thread at $43.00 plus S/H http://campbell-bosworth.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=linen

Compare prices and you'd pay about $113.00 plus S/H for the same yardage from the site posted.
Yes the initial price is higher but in the long run and if you're using a fair amount of thread it's IMO the way to go.

Campbell-Bosworth also sells a Hungarian made linen thread for about 1/2 the price as Barbour's, but several reports I've gotten from users is it tends to break while using.

Waxing your own thread is easy and I prefer a 60/40 mix of beeswax and pitch - http://www.wrtcleather.com/1-ckd/tutorials/_leatherstitch.html
A few things have changed since I wrote that but it gives the basic method of making your own handwax. With the unwaxed thread you can pre-dye it and then wax or use as is after waxing and let the dye work on it......

Yeah I have 1792 yards of Barbour's 3 cord Pure Flax Sinew, someday I'll find a use for it.
If you don't and want to trade it off let me know - I use a lot of it for various things such as clothing. In fact the old bags and such often used 3 cord at 10-12 Stitches per inch.

I'm sure we can work something out.
