I guess they don't make one..does anyone shoot a 562" or .575" RB in their .58cal?

I prefer the .005 under molds.....why not buy the .575?

Or if you really need a .570, just buy a Jeff Tanner..........$30 shipped to your door.

That sounds like a good idea..the .575"... and think I will go that way. It seems to me most everybody shoots .570" in .58cal...that's what I see online anyway and I was looking for that size mold and couldn't find one made by Lee.
I will just buy .570" roundballs and cast the .575".

I'am using .575 RB(lee mold).012 patch in my .58 Hawken, and they shoot ok, I would like to try some .570 RB when I can find some, just want something thats a little bit easier to load.

I have a Colerain barrel on my .58 Jaeger. I have both the .575 and .562 molds. The 575 ball with a .015 ticking patch is way too tight to get down without a mallet.....the .562 ball is a good snug fit but loads way easier. The 570s make good balls to use in paper cartridges for my 62 smoothie.

I suppose I could try to find a thinner patch and use the .570s but see no need to now.

I have always used the .575 from the Lyman mold blocks. I never could get 570 balls to work in my rifle.

I can see that this discussion is just swinging back and forth...rather than continuing with this indecision, just get a .595 mould instead and sell me some of what you make

I used .570 balls in my .58. I found a single cavity Lyman mold. I ended up using a .562 with a thicker patch. The .570 worked alright but the .562 with a .024 patch did a little better. Also having a double cavity mold for the .562 helped with the decision.

I shot my .58cal. yesterday and the day before. Don't know if it's because the Colerain is new, but .570" ball with .015" Ox Yoke lubed patch takes a short starter and have to hit it with hand to get started. Tight all the way down. As much as I want to push on a wood rod. I used some .010" or maybe even less...lubed patches and they go down fairly snug and can thumb start..hard but can do it.
However..the barrel is full of lead and one hard long time getting it all out. Not worth the effort..so I'm going to go to a smaller ball .562" and see if I can't get them to shoot with .018" pillow ticking and stop some of the leading.
I guess I will order a .062" mold along with the balls. I don't see any other choice, but to go to smaller ball so I can use thicker patch to stop leading.

How are you getting any leading with a patched ball? Is the ball ripping thru the patch in the bore? If the patches are coming out intact, it's not lead in the bore but fouling.

I've only found 1 patch and it was almost desinagrated..015". That's a thick as I've been able to use with .570" ball. I got some .018" lubed pillow ticking, but didn't want to hammer them down the barrel with the .570" ball cause I won't use a combo that tight.
I don't mind the short starter for hunting..I'll use an.010" patch for backup shot on ball board. Just can't deal with all the clean-up and scrubing.
I get good groups with the .010" & .015" patches..just too much leading. It took me over an hr. using three different cleaning methods to get the lead out.
I also use 1/8" lubed felt wads with every shot I shoot.

It sounds like the Colrain is a lot tighter than my GM. I use .024 denim for patching with the .562 balls and they short start with just a slap on the short starter.

I tried the same patching on some .570s I had hanging around a couple of days ago. They took a couple of raps with the short starter to get them started. They didn't shoot any better so decided to save myself the extra agravation and stay with the .562s.
