Thank you all for the great information.

Please excuse my ignorance, but when you talk about keeping them lubed, what are you lubing and what lube are you using?

Do the Lyman or RCBS moulds require any special attention?

Thanks

on the pivot I use GI gun oil. On the cavity and face of the blocks I just rub the hot mold with pure beeswax every hundred balls or so. The mini I rub the base forming plug with beeswax about every twenty five or so. :idunno:

I have allot of Lee moulds and a few of other makes. Lee are not the best but still put out good bullets. I have had a few minor problems with them but never had to send one back. I've put out thousands of bullets with them and some moulds I bought used. Never wore one out yet. The roundball moulds are really great, I mean not much to it, it's just a round ball and lees come without the nub of a sprue.

Any of you fellas ever try Frankford Arsenal's "Drop Out" spray. I have heard and read good things about it so I bought a can but have yet to try it out...Anyone?

I have used Lee molds for 15 years, a long with some others. Never any problems with Lee and they are a lot cheaper. Most of my casting is for center-fire but have used lee round ball molds for a 45 rifle and a old army.

Another pitch for the Lee molds.
Going on 70 and reloading for 50 years I never got around to casting my own.
The cost of factory made bullets, including plain lead round balls, was getting to the point where it was pinching my pension.
The 2 cavity Lee molds were a fairly inexpensive way to get going.
They don't compare to Lymans and such, but look at what they cost.
I haven't had any problems with them. A little practice and I was casting perfect bullets and balls.
And it's amazing how many you can make in an hours time with a simple little stainless pot, a dipper, and a 2 cavity mold.
