I bought a t/c flinter hawkens a few years back from the original has a 5 digit serial number and I do remember him saying it was bought back in the late 70's
My other t/c barrels all have 5 digits numbers I would think again late 70's or early 80's maybe round ball will have more info:

The serial number for mine is 65510. If it was made in the seventies, it was definetly taken care of well because i bought it used but it looks really well.

As a group we started trying to put together a list just to give an idea on production dates some months ago here. It didn't get very far, but I saved what little was offered. So I'll just toss some of it out there for speculation. Dates/numbers are as per offered by members so take them for just that...

TC told one member that they had different serial number ranges for each model.

TC was started in 1967 to produce the Contender pistol, but it was thought that the earliest Hawkens and Renegades didn't come along until in the 70's (when I bought my first 2 Hawkens).

Even so, a member gave a Hawken kit as 1967 in the 24XX range (although it should have a "K" prefix if an early kit).

Renegade numbers/dates that were offered:

Bought new -
1971 15807
1979 26XXX
1992 319XXX
1993 353XXX

My Renegade 54 is 4-digit at 65XX. While I bought it LNIB from a collector, I didn't find it until 2004 and have no information on when made.

Your serial number 65510 doesn't fit in here anywhere for an early Renegade - sounds more like a very late production or just before they were discontinued??? :hmm:

FWIW,

First Hawken was 1970...25th Anniversary was 1995...bought one of the the anniversary models for my Son.

Interesting, I have a flinter with the serial no. 16xx. Wouldn't mind knowing it's birthdate!

Have to be careful with TC's serial number ranges.

4 digit numbers by themselves don't necessarily mean an early or old production date.
For example, all "special run" barrels are 4 digits...all round ball barrels are 4 digits, etc.

I have several TC round ball barrels in caplock & flintlock, in .45/.50/.54cals...all are 4 digits and all were made since the early 90's...some just 5 years ago.
