Thank you. Hopefully I can get all the mowing done and other things and get a good range session in. I tried to talk myself into waiting for the new cones, but don't think I have the willpower.Congratulations @snakebit, the 1851 is my favorite. And the Slix Shots were a good choice. Get her well cleaned of factory gunk, lightly oil, and have fun. Lots and lots of info on this here.
Well, yeah!but don't think I have the willpower.
Go ahead and use the factory nipples, you can expect a few cap jams with them. Just keep a metal pick handy to pop them out. Don’t want to hit you with too much tuning stuff right off, but down the road your new revolver will benefit from deburring and honing the hammer face and other internal parts, makes a difference for sure.Thank you. Advice taken and appreciated. I'm going to start looking for a good set of files and stones to do that. And watch Mike Belavue's (sp) a dozen more times to pick up some pointers.Go ahead and use the factory nipples, you can expect a few cap jams with them. Just keep a metal pick handy to pop them out. Yep. Invented a couple new cusswords, and cleaned her good with straight Balistol. That barrel wedge had me flustered almost as bad as putting my Ruger MK ll back together. But I got er figured out.You will love it. Just be sure to clean it really good before shooting it.
Be safe and have fun!

Do you happen to use paper cartridges in yours? You'll like it The 1851 Navy just feels right in my hand, it's my favorite. It also happens to be the most accurate too.
Not regularly, I have made them for fun but usually just load with flask and balls.Do you happen to use paper cartridges in yours?
Don’t go after the sights for a while. Shoot it enough to learn what it wants to be fed and where it hits before you begin removing metal.Advice taken and appreciated.
