X2 on the carpet beetles. I have two horns that I stored for a number of years and only checked occasionally. Unfortunately sometime in the last few years the beetles made a bunch of not so fancy grooves across the surface. One of them was an very plain old horn that I found in my granddads garage 40+ years ago. Over all those years nothing bothered it until the last couple of years.
 
Thanks - Just poking some fun at Horner with that comment. There were some comments made elsewhere among horners regarding my using pretty white horns and not etching them. The comment is not to be taken seriously

Sorry - thought you were on the Horner's Bench. Some banded horns of mine were discussed on there recently. I took some heat for not etching my pretty white horns.
