I had a 'minor' spill of linseed oil on my workbench but a lot got onto a very nice leather sling (for a jaeger rifle).

Does linseed oil hurt leather?

I quickly put some neats foot oil on it and so far, so good.

It won't hurt it. You could have used some alcohol to try to get most of it out, but no matter. It would only be an issue if you rubbed many layers into it and let them dry.

Thank you.

Yeah, I panicked when it happened, linseed oil is good for oil cloth rain gear and gunstocks but leather?? Then I read the internet and I was relieved to see that its used for leather cleaning etc.
