Loading Conicals

O.K., I have fiqured out the round ball thing, so now, I have another question.
When loading conicals do use wads and over lube or do you use powder and conicals only? How do you folks do it? What seems to be the best way to load a revolver with conicals for the best and more consitant groups.

some lube is neccessary if the felts are not lubed. smear some over the ball/slug.

Conicals should have grease grooves eliminating the need for wads or over ball lube.

No doubt grease grooves on a bullet are good but for what it's worth, the bullets for the Colt and the Remington were "heeled" bullets without grease grooves.
The heel is a short area at the rear of the bullet which is undersized. It's purpose was to align the bullet with the chamber prior to forcing it down into the chamber with the loading lever.

Using a greased felt wad between the bullet and the powder charge is IMO a good idea although the times I've shot bullets in my .36 Colt I just used Crisco over the top of the bullet for lube.

seems I get tighter groups with the felt overpowder, I place a small dab of lube atop a handmade button of felt.

Looks like these can be shot in most combinations of wad or lube or both. So again what you are are all saying is, whatever the revolver likes best. I appreciate all of your help and I gotta tell ya, I really enjoy shooting this revolver. May have to buy another model too try it out.
