I posted this in the identification section and thought to try here also,
A local auction has a couple of what appear to be original guns, one they have listed as T. Davidson which I think is the one on the top of the photo
Does anyone here know anything about this maker?
Haven't decided if I want to go and have a look at these or not.
Only photo available.

Take a careful look at the bottom one. It may be more desirable. Check to see if it has a maker's name especially. Dale
They only listed a maker for one of these rifles. They both look to be in reasonably good shape in the photo. I've enlarged the photo as much as I could and really can't get much from it
When I enlarged to photo the top one seen to have some pretty nice wood on it.

My reference book says : T Davidson Gunlock makers of Cincinnati Ohio 1850- 54 . There was a Bixler & Iddings Lafayette ,Tippecanoe County Indiana with a T Davidson lock . I like the look of the bottom rifle in that it has an aperture sight fitted .

No caliber was listed for either rifle but the bottom one seems to have a larger barrel and yes I noticed the sight also.
This is a private collection and has a lot of very desirable guns. I thought I had a pretty large collection but there are just a little over 200 in this one. Only 5 that could be discussed here.
The three others then the rifles here are handguns two small screw barrel boot guns and an 1862 sheriffs model colt.
I hope that the bidders spent their money on the more modern guns many of which will bring big money and I'll get a bargain on the front loaders...;)
