Maybe to light a kitchen match to set off the charge? Or a home made air gun lock? Or just a steampunk project? Wish I could see it in person.

The other's are right, that is not a traditional lock at all. The grade 5 hex bolts and coat hanger wire indicate that it's a modern fantasy artistic representation.
It is unique and the intricacy of the supposed mechanics certainly does capture the eye, ;)
Thanks for sharing,,

Sorry, my question was not really correct.
I've built this lock a few months ago mostly out of scrap and wanted to know if there are other locks out there that work similar.

But it does work, and pretty reliable.
I'll post a foto of the other side so you can figure out how it works.

No it's not a lighter. I wanted to build a flintlock musket but did not find flints to buy. So i tried it 'flintlock style' but with a magnesium rod, but it didn't work. So I tried it like this and it works.

I moved this thread here because it was originally posted in the Firearms Identification section. That section is for discussing old original guns, not for newly made gun parts like this.

Before you post a reply to the thread remember, be nice. Belittling the builder or snide comments about his work are not permitted.

Amazing! What is "stricking" the rod when the sear trips the tumbler?

The big, stragely shaped spring strikes the rod when the cover of the pan goes back and released it.
In the video i'm shooting with homemade black powder both as prining powder and load.
I discovered that with flash powder as priming powder (magnalium, potassium nitrate and sulfur) it ignites the charge almost instantly.
