Since there is absolutely no tradition BP shops in my local, I thought since I am off this week I would take a little road trip somewhere that catered to the traditional minded shooters. So do I go to Dixie Gun Works or the Log Cabin Shop? Both are 6-6.5 hours away from me one way. I want a selection of guns and kits and supplies to look at and maybe make a purchase or two. I've been advised by a fellow forum member that Dixie's showroom is a joke and that a lot of the items in the catalog are no longer available. However I've been told that in Louisville there are a couple good BP oriented museums to go to when I'm headed to Dixie. What say all of you?

i was at the log cabin today and they sure have a lot to look at. if you go there make sure you call to check if they'll be open. they have inventory coming soon. never been to dgw

i don't think you would be disappointed at the cabin. they also have a range on the property, i think its 11.00 to shoot all day.

It has been years since I was at DGW, but their show room was a BIG disappointment, not bigger than my living room, with very little showing.

Log Cabin Shop all the way! Made the same trip from Port Huron,Mi. and have to find a way to tell the wife why I spent this years and next years allowance :rotf: You won't be disappointed

Since I'm just 10 minutes away, I vote for the Log Cabin

Of coarse, I'm biased too!

You are a Lucky Dog, only 10 mins away, I just ordered from them last week and what a pleasure it was working with them. They seem like real down home and knowledgable guys.

Bring your camera when you go to the Log Cabin shop. Plenty of old guns, powder flasks, powder cans and tools to see in their one gallery museum. Be sure to wear a face mask to keep the drool off the floor too. I think they're still mopping up my mess from years ago.

dixon's by allentown if ya live in PA or will be in the area in the end of july they have there gun builders fair then....was there last year and plan on this year too....116 miles isn't too far eighter....seems like if they don't have it they don't make.........bob

Yes, that is a good spot to go. I picked up parts to build a pistol there last year.

One of the fav places I went to when I was taking the wife around the US, was Dixie Gun Works.

Ive bought stuff form them for years. Got to meet the people in person. Everyone was real nice. Looked at many knives, bought my bowie from them at a nice discount.

The showroom isnt big, the museum on the side was cool as heck. Woth the two bucks to get in.

Ive never been told they dont have anything that in the catalog, thats why they make a new one each year.

You can spend all day in there and ask questions, we did.

Still my fav place Ive been too.
