Are the long hammock Barrels that DGW sell any good? I am simply replacing the .32 barrel on a pedersoli "kentucky" rifle with a .40 one to lighten it a little for my son. I recall years ago that Dixie used to sell some barrels that had a good bit of runout.

Thanks!
Pat

I used to take all the guys from their shop fishing.

Great bunch.

Long Hammock may not be as famous as some of the others but they make a good servicable product.

I do know that when you recieve your bbl, if you are not happy with it they WILL replace it or refund your money with a smile.

Pretty good folks all and all.

Hope this helps.

Leo

P.S.

They used to bring me barrels for tip money - Pretty cool- Actually think I might have a few of them laying around here somewhere.

The ones I used were good shooters.

I bought a 46" .50 cal straight octagonal barrel from them. It was supposed to be 48"but there was a mix-up. To make up for it, they gave me free a 12" . 50 cal Kentucky pistol barrel to go with it. Very nice folks.

I have a 42" straight octagon .62 caliber rifled barrel from them on my early Virginia rifle and it's a very accurate barrel.

Thanks for the replies guys. How do they compare to Green Mountain? I just found out that Pecatonica has the same size barrel (.40 X 13/16 X 36") by green mountain for $110.
So, what do you think?
Thanks again!
Pat

My dad just purchased a Long Hammock barrel and was very impressed. He said the owner was just a super nice guy. I believe thats mostly what Matt & Toni @ TVM uses.

VERY nice people. And the barrel I have is great. There are those who prefer GM and Getz, and so forth. But what I like is that LHB was willing to give me whatever size I wanted. Havent fired her yet because the barrel is going to Sitting Fox Muzzleloaders to be remounted on a new stock. (The project took a turn for the worse). But I have no complaint so far.
