How do they compare to Getz Colerain and Rice?? I see Jim Chambers is offering them on his kits now. Wondering on availablity of the Long hammock barrel vs Getz long wait.
I am interest in the smooth rifle kit and he doesnt offer the rice bbl for that kit.

Thanks

I have 2 of them. They are both on TVM rifles and although I have no experience with any of the other ones you mentioned, The long hammock barrels that I have are excellant shooters. I would not hesitate to purchase another one....that is if the misses says it is OK. I will be out for a few more days so I may not get any responses .

The Long Hammock barrels are made like the old H&H barrels. H&H was purchased from H&H by Richard Smith and he changed it to Tru-Bore and then his son Riley Smith took over and he changed the name to Long Hammock. He makes a quailty barrel. I have used them for nearly 20 years. All of these are made on the old machines that H&H had. Jack Garner

Jack,
Does LH make rifled barrels or do they make just smoothbore. Also, was H&H out of Maryland? Hobbs and was it Hopkins?

My 18 year-old grandson has a new rifle with a Long Hammock .54 caliber rifled barrel purchased from J. Garner several years ago and you could not ask for a better shooting barrel. How does 2" offhand groups at 85 yards grab you? I was impressed enough that I will use these barrels for all my future projects.

Jack,do you have any info on Long Hammock such as a website or mailing address, maybe a phone number? Also do you have any info on unrifled barrels that one can use in their own rifling machine? Thanks

Blahman, here is the number 352-748-7373. Ask for Riley he is a great guy to talk to and he will build you what ever you want . I have a 54 oct to round barrel on a gun built by Matt at tvm this gun is a tack driver and he is makeing a barrel for my fathers mule ear that tvm will also be making for me. I will use no other barrel or gun maker than longhammock or tvm. But they do not have a web page at this time. :m2c:

Thanks Bowfish, I'll give them a call, see what they can do and let you know how things turn out. Recently, I was lucky enough to come upon an unrifled Green Mountain barrel in 50 caliber. I rifled it the weekend before Christmas and it turned ou gooood, real good. I'm going to have that turned octogon to round and build a neat rifle from it.
