Jefferson County Historical Society Seeks Exhibitors for
Muzzleloading Firearms Exhibit in Early August.
If you’re the owner of a locally-made muzzleloader or a collection of locally-made guns, the Jefferson Country Historical Society (JCHS) would like to speak with you. The JCHS is seeking to host an Antique Firearms Exhibit on August 5th, 2006, at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, and is currently putting out a call to find exhibitors for the event. The scope of the exhibit will 18th and 19th century flintlocks and percussion guns, but with a strong focus on regional gun makers from counties in Northwestern Pennsylvania, particularly those within a 60-mile radius of Jefferson County. It should be noted that this is not a gun sale, but a historical exhibition and educational display designed to bring together a combination of rarely-seen weapons and knowledgeable collectors with a strong affinity for the works of regional craftsmen.
This is no fee to be an exhibitor, however there will be a $3.00 entry fee for anyone 12 years and older. There will be door prizes and a raffle, and the JCHS is also looking for local craftspeople who specialize in firearms-related accessories and accouterments. This is a one-day event, held the same Saturday as the Hazen Flea Market, and there will be security officers present at all times during the event. If you are interested in participating as an exhibitor, please contact Ken Burkett at 814.365.5563 or at [email protected].
