I don't know what caliber was used, but John Wilkes Booth used a similar looking derringer when he killed Abraham Lincoln. I saw the gun in the museum in the basement of Ford's Theater in Washington, D. C. a few years back.

So, yes, I think that gun could kill someone with a good shot.

I have the same pistol, and the barrel full of powder will hold just over 110 grains of ff. I do understand, that only so much powder will burn while in that short barrel.

It appears, that these barrels are just cut down rifle barrels, and will take some heat! I would think that 40-50 grains, with a ball at close range will do some damage! I will have to try it and see! :hmm:

I thought it was a .44 that killed Lincoln, but I try REAL hard not to say things when I'm not sure.

I dug out a picture I took of Booth's gun, and it is a dead ringer for this newer pistol.

I wouldn't trust it for accuracy for more than a few feet. Derringers weren't intended for anything else.
