I've called or emailed all the main known "players". I bought my last blank from Nathan, and he was my first contact. I am now looking for a "known" piece. Thanks.

Talk to the Amish if you have any living around you. Each community seems to have a saw mill or ten near them . I get most my stock slabs from them and cut out my blanks . If no Amish near you just look for saw mills in general . ... Gun builders too ...good luck . Nothing wrong with specialty ships but their prices are high

As suggested, you may find a sawyer to supply a blank. But, it is likely to be fresh cut and you may have to put in dry storage for a few years before you can use it. Stick with the known suppliers, like Pecatonica and others.

Hey, I resemble that!

Lot's of people are clear-cutting their ash trees due to the emerald ash borer. I've been high-grading some of the stuff that was marked for future firewood. . . so I've got ~4k bd ft of ash, cut last fall/early winter. The stash includes about 25 pieces of quartersawn figured/curly ash, 10' long, 12-20" wide, and 3-4" thick. I figure the "ash stash" should be dry by the time I retire, and last me as long as I'm working wood.
