Just a suggestion…
Flintlocks seem to be in demand lately. If you find a good condition .50 at the rite price- I wouldn’t pass that up, I didn’t.
That’s why they make Heavy 370gr Maxi’s . The .50 can do a lot.

Plus I acquired a older one- Rehardened the Frizzen and Made it spark well. They can be made to work very well.

I had some difficulty finding one, so I put mine together out of parts; single trigger stock, .54 caplock barrel converted to flintlock and Investarms lock.

Some folks have found too much gap at the bottom of the inlet with Investarms lock in a T/C stock, I've been lucky...no more gap than a factory inlet on the two I've installed.

Good to know I've never used a flint before and I've always like TC rifles. My 8 yo has been getting more interested in them and I thought it would be a good project to fix up with hi I'd like atleast a 50 cal. I do also like lyman Rifles

TC flint locks are temperamental. no pun intended. the weak points of their locks are the frizzen and the frizzen spring.
and the cock frizzen angle. oh yeah also the main spring. and the sear plunger, the tumbler is ok though the fly is soft and wears fast.
i really like my TC 45/50. i have two barrels, the 50 is a green mountain.
i might be talked into selling it. just put a Lyman replacement frizzen on it.

Got my Tc Frizzen re hardened, Cock adjusted and now it sparks very well every time. No problem…. Or you can purchase new parts with better geometry. My brothers Hawken has never had a problem, never had any work done to it- it’s a old one.
These are just my two experiences for examples.
