Anybody out there do their own smithing? I'm looking for something strong and rustic yet decorative to hang an old busted wallhangar rifle from.

Suggestions?

How about old horeshoes.I had some old ones that I welded together to hang rifles with.I found them with some blacksmith tools in telluride colorado when we were diggin a foundation.

wecome to the camp....look in the links section there should be a website there.........bob

Do a search for Mike Ameling. I'm not sure if he makes these specifically, but he does other types of forging and has great quality, and a quick turnaround

I've seen the horseshoe rifle hangers online. I just don't remember where. There are some other kinds out there too. Sure would be a lot cheaper than having them custom made. Poke around a bit and you'll stumble onto them. Sorry I couldn't be more help. I think sportsmansguide.com might have the horseshoe hangers.

My best friend Layne Hendrickson would probably love to work with you: http://oaklevelforge.com/

He is working towards affording a fine Kentucky flintlock for shooting and deer hunting back home in Kentucky where we're from (and where he lives, darn him!), and I know he'd love to work on a muzzleloader-related custom project. He's fairly cheap also, from what I gather (not knowing much personally about the costs of blacksmiths).

If you contact him, tell him Liam Graham sent you!

Best of luck to you!
Liam

Go to this link and send a message to Gobblerforge. He made me a couple a beautiful little hooks for doing him a favor last year.
