The maxiball is undersize to allow east loading, the top bearing band is suppose to be the only one that engraves the grooves when loading...
In theory, the middle and rear bearing bands expand when fired and fill the grooves, thus sealing the bore...
To have a maxiball slide down and back out without effort is dangerous, the projectile can slide forwards and become a barrel obstruction without your knowledge...

That's just it. The top band does not engage.
Aside from loading loose, mine shoot surprisingly well, clover leafs at 50 yards.
Won't be a problem hunting as long as it's checked periodically to be sure it's seated.
I don't think they will just slide out of the bore but I haven't tried to make them yet.
No different than loading a mini-ball.
