Rest in Peace Lacey. She was the best companion and friend I could ever know with four legs.

She lived a great life for seventeen years, a lot of that time pursuing squirrels with me. During the off season, she was pure terror on the local mole population!

That said, she was so much more. I will miss her so very much.

Skychief.

Sorry to see you lost a good friend. I've been down that road a number of times and it is always tough. I still hasn't stopped us from getting another dog sooner or later.

I've lost several over the years and every one was a better companion and friend than 90% of the humans I have known in my life. Hold her memory close in your heart and mind but get another dog and move ahead. You can never replace the ones you had but another dog will fill the void and in time you will find the new one to be almost as good as the one you lost.

Sincerest heart-felt condolences on teh loss of a hunting buddy. Our Penny was our little girl for 17 & 1/2 years...almost like losing a child. She tried to be a hunting buddy but had her daddy's nose...he was a Beagle and she couldn't stay still ong enough! Been almost 3 years and still miss her.

My father once told me that a man has had a good life if he has had one of these three things.....
A good dog...
A good woman...
and a truly good friend.

He said I've had hell of a dogs...great ones.
He said, I have your mama.
Then he rubbed his chin and said, You know 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

Sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss Chief. After a suitable time to grieve, you need to get back on the bandwagon. Try your local animal shelter and maybe you will find a new friend that needs a man.......robin :idunno:

17 years is a good run, she is now running and chasing squirrels with other dogs in the Great Woods in the sky, with tears in my eyes, James E.
