Guys:

When I got my money returned from MVTC I went immediately to Loyalist Arms, based on the positive comments from some of the guys on the forum.

I had one or two phone conversations with Blair and both were excellent. He was polite and took the time to answer my questions and I trusted him so I ordered a Baker from him. Blair said it would be shipped in three weeks and it was.

I 'proofed' the barrel and shot it a couple of times but it was not sparking reliably so I contacted Loyalist via e-mail. And got a response within 12 hours. Blair and I discussed a couple of things and I tried it again but it was not reliable so Blair had me return the lock. Within three days of it getting to Loyalist, I got an e-mail saying it had been fixed and was being shipped the next day.

Got the lock and shot it today. Excellent reliability and function. Pretty fast for a flintlock, too.

Those of you guys who are thinking of MVTC, think again. Go to Loyalist Arms. Same types of firearms, a bit more expensive, but a place you can absolutely trust for being professional, polite, and top notch in terms of service.

Good to hear. I've been tempted. Are there frizzens smooth when you got it from them or are they washboard? I got a fussil de chasse from veteran arms there frizzen was wash board.

HH:

It was smooth but you could see that they had tested it a few times before shipping.

I shot fifteen rounds with it yesterday and the flint remains in surprisingly good condition. Doesn't look very worn at all. Must be about a perfect angle to the frizzen.

Am pretty pleased with it and will probably buy a flintlock pistol from them this summer.

Thanks Scipio. I am waiting to save up for one of their trade guns. They seem like good folks.

Scipio, did you see my post concerning MVT? I received my musket the other day, perfect fit and finish, lock is smooth, frizzen sparks well. Pete came through, although it took too long. Not a scam artist in my book. BF

Yes, I saw it but my opinion about MVTC remains the same.

Never said the guy was a scam artist. Only that at the rate he was going with my order, I would be waiting five years. He also treats his customers like garbage.

If a company says they have an item in stock, it means to me that it should be shipped within a week. I waited three months and during that time he completed one firearm according to his waiting list.

So I ordered another firearm from Loyalist and got it in three weeks. Had a problem and it was fixed in three days.

Haven't given it any more thought and my view of his business practice has not changed. No way I would advise anyone to do business with him.

I agree, "in stock" items should ship within a day or so. I'm just saying, after reading all the negative posts, he still receives, finishes and ships guns. Still bothered by the wait time, would have cancelled but didn't want to lose 20% of my money. While waiting, I contacted Veteran Arms and had a look at their stuff, e-mailed asking what they had "ready to ship", there were plenty to chose from. Will probably go there next time. But, I love my Ketland Officers Fucil. BF

I also had an opportunity to call Loyalist. Blair answered the phone as everyone else was at lunch and had left him behind. LOL . I requested pricing on a Baker rifle. We had a lengthy chat about the rifle and he gave me a clear explanation of what is done before shipping. I received a text from Loyalist with pricing and shipping. Absolutely excellent experience!

Loyalist Arms is looking into having a .65 3-Band Enfield with a block rear sight made for me (P59 post Mutiny Colonial Indian Troops musket).

How are you accessing MVTC waiting list? I paid for a pistol from him, no idea when I'm getting it.
