I killed a nice boar black bear two weeks ago, rendered the fat I brought home and got 2.25 gallons of bear grease.
I would like to make some bullet lube for conicals with it as well as try it as is for patch lube.
Any good recipe's for conical lube using bear grease?
The bear squared six feet green and weighed between 300-400 lbs as near as I could guesstimate.

Caribou in the back ground. The boar came in on us while butchering the Bou.He almost got my pardner!

I use bear grease for my patch lube. I use 70% bear grease an 30% pure bees wax melted together an stirred good. That combo works well for me here in bama. Not runny or so hard you cant get it on a patch

I just set some rendered bear fat out at room temp (covered) for a few weeks. Eventually an oil comes free and sits on top. I pour it off and use it straight for patch lube.

I've got some that's 4 years old now, and it doesn't knock your head off opening the bottle. Nothing I'd cook with (though I do cook with rendered bear fat), but not intolerable smelling. Certainly not as bad as Ballistol in my book.

Clear bear oil will last many years.

Bear fat as in white lard is fantastic for pastries, my late sister said the best.

I like 50/50 BO and beeswax for lube for patches rubbed on one side or melted in and drained. Works good on boots for waterproofing also. Can be used in bullet lube grooves using BP or smokeless at low velocities.

No Bear available Morrell's snow cap lard works welltoo.

That is one of my chief fears with hunting the forest...a bear sneaking up on my kill while I am addressing the task at hand.

Seems the oil straight up seems to be a favored of the traditional crowd.

That is a lot of fat. Probably a life times worth of PRB there. :)
Freeze some of it. Should increase the time it will hold.

With that much on hand you can try all sorts of concoctions and find the perfect one for your rifle.
