I precut and prelubed some patches with Bore Butter. I didn't have time to let them dry overnight. I just spread the BB on them, nuked them for a few seconds and placed them in a baggie. I then pressed them with my hand to soak them all.

What does not drying them do?

If I mix up some of Stumpys milk will it be as messy as the BB patches?

Thanks,
Jim

Jim I have used Stumpy's Moose snot before, and lathered it on rolled pillow ticking and throw them in a glass jar ... leaving out in the sun in the back of the car in the jar will saturate them quite well with little ill effect.

You don't have to let them dry. I don't see how they could dry. Soak'em, squeeze'em, use'em. Pre-lubed moose milk patches will be wet. I make "dry lubed" patches with Stumpy's moose milk. I soak a strip of patch and lay it flat on a towel to air dry. I soak it again and lay to dry again. I am left with lightly lubed material that works great on the range. Stumpy's moose snot makes a paste lube and I smear that on patch strips, roll them up, and store in a tin. They also work great at the range and also work excellent pre-loaded in a ball block.

I haven't mixed any of Stumpy's solutions yet. I have lubed these with BB. I do need to mix some soon though.

Pepperbelly, if your goal is a patch-lube,that is less "messy' try the dry-patch method as per "Dutch Schultz" method.I cut mine at the muzzle, but they could be pre-cut. The mix I use is 6 to 1 and works well for me. Cold weather has little effect on them.
