Lucky for 3 successful hunts so far because...

Nice photos, FWIW give yourself a break and heal up, there is always next season and squirrel hunting will be a nice diversion in place of deer.

I'm kind of in the same situation as you. I aggravated an old knee problem by hunting 11 days straight .. morning and evening. 1/2 to 3/4 mile walk one way each time in. I was limping halfway through it and should have stopped but finished it off by dragging out a doe on the last day.
Now I have to have knee surgery in 3 weeks but have hunts scheduled. It's a colossal PIA and knee. :td:

Well, I'm sure you understand when I say your predicament makes me glad this is all that's happened to me...hope your surgery / recovery goes fine as well

Yeah. My 62-year old "little" brother had a knee replacement in April and the second one done in September. He's determined in his therapy, so recovery is going really fast. The doc figures he'll be ready for romps in the hills by about July.....

I've heard our knees referred to as:
"The weakest joint on the strongest, most weight bearing limb of the body"

I'm starting to incorporate wildlife videos with some hunting trips...here's an interesting one of some deer that showed up while I was Turkey hunting.
The deer are fixated on something at the end of the small 3 acre greenfield and I suspect it was somebody walking along the country road there.

Thanks for the good wishes.

It's not supposed to be a knee replacement just fixing a "complex tear of the medial meniscus." The surgeon says 2-4 weeks recovery until I can hunt again. Our season goes into Feb. depending on where you hunt so all is not lost.

What a lousy break, rb. You'll have to be patient and heal up, which will be quick, I hope. I can truly empathize with you. I once sustained that same foot injury. There have also been broken ankles, broken hands, two torn knee ligaments, two major shoulder surgeries and more in my rough and tumble past. And as if that wasn't enough this might be my last hunting season; and unless a miracle happens I may have to satisfy myself with trips to the range and that's all. But who said life was for sissies? It ain't and neither is old(er) age.

Yes, it's a hard thing to com to terms with but you already know that. Take care of yourself and stay out of the woods for the time being.

Roundball....you are obviously spastic
Seriously, I hope you do not have permanent damage and that you recover quickly. I looked at youtube and saw that you have several videos there; looked at one and will see the others as time allowes. I have noticed on that other board we are members of that your hobby of photography is well developed. Since you will have some time on your hands, why don't you look at the link I am attaching? Look at the posts by a guy named Lars. If you want a project while you convalesce, study his work, subjects and results. You may already know how to produce that quality of photographic excellence, but if not, it will be a challenge which will elevate your photog abilities to the same level as your muzzleloading acumen. Get better soon. http://bushcraftusa.com/forum/showthread.php/22310-Wilderness-Photography-Thread/page208
