I just came into possession of an Investarms Hawken that was in reasonable condition except the barrel. The bore is in really bad shape, with both pitting and a damaged crown.

I can get a Lyman Trade rifle barrel for less than $100. Would this barrel be likely to fit? Is this a practical solution?

Yep,I got a trade rifle barrel for my flint Investarms Hawken and it fit right in.Shoots good too.

The Lyman barrel came today, and it's now on the Interarms rifle and seems fine.

The wedge hardware and the hammer and nipple were aligned fine.

Apparently in times past they've changed the configuration of the breech plug and/ or the lock assembly, so this needed to be shaped a bit. Also, the original assembler didn't fit the fore end cap quite right, and that interfered with the barrel rib.

All seems well now, and I now have another reasonable shooter, instead of just a wall-hanger.
