I have recently joined this forum a few days ago and I must say that I have read alot of good info. This past winter I re-joined NMLRA( it's been 20 years, sad case I know, sorry), anyway I have a question for anyone that shoots there, Can the LYMAN GREAT PLAINS RIFLE be used there to shoot in the primitive matches? When I shot there the last time I used a flintlock,( which I still have),but this year I want to shoot my Lyman 54. I have removed the adjustable rear sight and installed a fixed sight but before I keep practicing with it I would like to know whether or not I will be able to use it. So I thought I would post the question here to see if anybody else uses theirs.
Also one other question I have I was reading some of the other topics on proper moccasins for the primitive shoots and Dyers name along with Arrow Moc came up as to be not PC. When I shot at Friendship I think just about everybody had on a pair of DYERS or ARROW MOCS on their feet and nobody complained. Have the rules changed to be more strickter about their footware? I hope not because I don't have my Dyer's anymore and I got a pair of moccassins from a place in Minnesota where they make them by hand. They are the knee high type and there is some machine sewing on them which I did not care for so I am goin to re-sow the machine stitching with sinew to give them a better original look. After checking out this forum I'm sure that I will get some good answers to my questions my thanks to all that respond. (It's finally going to warm up and quit snowing here in Indiana so know I can get out and shoot some, been going nuts, I got the MOUNTAIN MAN and JEREMIAH JOHNSON movies memorized, I'll shut up now good luck to all this year with your shooting!!)
