While your still in the wood removal stage, you might want to consider removing the "fish belly" curve from the bottom of the butt.
If this area is changed from a bulging curve to a straight line between the wrist and the butt plate, the gun's appearance will be quite close to a real Hawken rifle.

Of course, if you're like several others I know, looking like a Hawken isn't that important but changing the shape is something to think about. :)

I've been looking at a bunch of picture of originals and will try to make it as close as I can. My biggest concern is the cheek piece, the one that Lyman puts on is huge and coyote ugly it's going to take a lot of work to make that look good.

While you are at it, take look at that hump on the tang and the rear of the lock panels.

Update on the GPR. I've got the tang fully inletted and now the holes line up. Started work on the wrist and trigger guard area it's pretty much roughed out but I'm going to have to fill and re-drill the the screw holes for the trigger guard because they don't line up.
Next will be the butt stock and there's a lot of wood that has to be remover there.

Zonie I took out the fish belly in the stock but there is no way I can make a nice straight line from the trigger guard to the end of the toe plate.
To do that I would have to entirely re-inlet the toe plate. What I have now is a straight line from the trigger guard to the beginning of the toe plate and a slight rise in the heel from there.
