I stick by what I said earlier. Having Pedersoli create the "Signature" series wasn't a bad idea. They just should have kept Investarms making the original GPR and other guns in their line.

If Lyman is going back to Investarms, that was sure one short mfg. run.

I thought Lyman was merely the marketer, had them imported and sold under their Lyman name. In other words, Investarms mad them for Lyman, probably under an exclusivity clause.

That's what I thought also as Investarm made guns for Cabela's.

I don’t believe Lyman actually makes anything. And they definitely are a different company than Investarm, no matter what the ‘rumor mill’ says. Investarm sells under their own name and supplies other companies products to sell under their name, Lyman and Cabelas come to mind, but there are others.

I've seen them done like that. They look much better! Although one still said "Lyman Great Plains 54, Middletown, CT" on the barrel. If you're going to take the time to draw file the barrel, why not remove it all? I ended up selling that one as I was going in a different direction at the time. The CVA Mountain Rifle had a better balance. However, the GPR looks more like a Hawken!

\If one wants better balance and looks, why not go on and taper the barrel a bit? Even 1/16 inch looks and feels much better. Of course, one could also shorten a few inches, too.

I have in my hands, right now, a Cabelas look-alike Cal .50 Hawken style that has no importer's name. It only reads Investarm SPA, Marcheno, Italy as part of an address. The date code is NA which I believe is 1985, Polecat

It’s not a rumor about Investarm that we will have to deal with for years, Investarm actually makes stuff like guns, (and they are NOT Lyman). Here is a quote from the Investarm website.

Yes, that's why I had my bbl. shortened, it is quite heavy. Also I just like shorter bbls. I wonder if there will be something of an 'after-market' heat-up, where guys try to find the older Investarms GPRs rather than the new-fangeled Pedersolis? Also, prices are really up there on everything!

I had 3 inches taken off my Pedersoli hawkens. It was a 32". Now I really like shooting it a lot better. Feels more balanced and carries better,

I'd never heard that. The Investarms were around for a long time. Always good comments on them.

The Italian gun makers are all producing junk right now. I have a good friend that is a warranty gunsmith for a name you would all recognize and every gun coming in has real problems. Up to and including stuff like cylinders and barrels of different calibers.

The older experienced shop hands all died or retired due to Covid. The new folks are not doing a good job, at all.

I can believe this. I had an idea of selling my ASM 1860 Colt from the early nineties. NIB; no takers at the meets & shows I happened to attend. Now, it's staying right here. I do wonder if new CNC machines can make up for lack of old-time skill. I think I know the name, but good luck and thanks for posting.

I would have love an Investarms scaled GPR, but made by Pedersoli...with the lighter barrel, stock, but keep the actions and finish the Pedersolis have.. I love my flintlock GPR from P. I got last year, but it is a heavy summagun. .

So what size across the flats are the Pedersoli versions? I didn’t realize they were different now. I know they made the twist rate 1:48” instead of 1:60”

The Pedersoli GPR has a slow twist...in the sixties, I forget what exactly. Sorry, dont know just what the measurements are, but the rifle is a good 3-4 lbs heavier, at least. Supposedly it is staying in the same dimensions as the original Hawkens, but I would just as well "modernize" a bit to the lighter rifle.
