I just sold one last year for a house payment (had to liqudate). I thought it was very well made, was an EXCELLENT sparker. I did break the ramrod the first time I loaded it, was cheaply made and/or a bad blank but they sent out a new one and I now always load with range rod at range. It was quite accurate with PRB, took a mule deer with it about 15 years ago. Didn't shoot a tight group with conical but huntable. I believe you will enjoy it! Let us know when you've shot it how it groups. :grin:

My frontier new outta the box 45 caliber, after a solid cleaning and after the third round all the shots were touching but about 2 feet low, I eneded up using a handheld grinder to remove enuff metal off the front sight to get it hitting center. I own two a 36 and 45 and both can out shoot me. 50 yards off a bench when I do my part I get 1-2 inch groups with the occassional flier which no doubt is me, and even them are no more than 4 inches off center.

Thanks all. I'm pretty excited. I started with the Lyman Trade. 50. This makes my second rifle. I stupidly traded the Lyman for something and have regretted since. I guess BP runs in my blood. :rotf: I'll make a new thread when I receive it.

Hi ....this is my first post here. I rolled the dice and ordered the Cabelas Blue Ridge rifle .....54cal flint .... per UPS its out for delivery today ...cant wait to get my hands on it. Not a 'custom' gun ...but .... was onsale for %49 and I had almost $230 in cabelas points so i figured ...what the heck .... with the $5 shipping it will cost me around $325. I'm crossing my fingeres the barrel is brown ... cabelas product research tab and description say blue and the other brown.

Yeah guys, but, Cabelas' has their LINE of self-branded Blue Ridge rifles by Pedersoli which may, in fact, be blue.

Welcome NHHunter -- but whatever color it is you were taking NO chances there. Especially for the cash it actually cost you. Come back AFTER the silly grin is FINALLY gone and tell us how pleased you are...

Both of mine are Cabelas Blue Ridge. Both are Brown. Bout all I know about it. I see on their site it says Blued so make sure and let us know which it is. Larry

I have no experience with the Lyman (although a good friend of mine has shot a few deer with his Lyman and likes it) but I have quite a bit of time making smoke with my Hatfield. That has been the greatest rifle for me shooting 50 yards off hand. Like it so much that just this past week I have picked up an unfired Pedersoli 36 cal Frontier percussion and waiting for an unfired 50 cal Blue Ridge flintlock that should be delivered tomorrow. If they shoot as accurate as my Hatfield, I will be tickled pink! Greg

Just received a current version Blue Ridge percussion rifle a couple of months ago and the barrel was blued; the finish was more of a blackened finish though similar to the Lyman GPR barrels. I seem to recall that the Cabela's rifles were browned at one time.

They changed to a blued barrel around a year ago. Good news is now the sights that came blued on the browned barrel will match the barrel on the Blue Ridge.
