Hello,

I want to shoot REAL LEE bullets in my 54 GPP but they are 2 size/weight of REAL : Do you have experience and know whether they are stabilized (1:30 twist)

In other respects, where to order a complete barrel for this 54 GPP ?

Thanks

I don't own one of those pistols but if I were to want to shoot a REAL bullet in one of them I would opt for the lightest weight, shortest bullet available.

I say this for several reasons.

First, the pistol will never develop the velocity that is needed to stabilize a long heavy bullet. Adding to the problem, the heavy bullet will be traveling at a slower speed than a lighter bullet and that will slow down the speed of rotation even more.

Adding heavy powder charges to make up for the low velocity isn't the answer either because black powder burns relatively slowly so, beyond a certain load most of the extra powder will be burning long after the bullet has left the barrel.

Shooting heavy slugs also puts a great strain on the wooden stock and has been known to crack them.

REALs were originally made for slow twist guns. It was a way to have a conical to shoot from a round ball barrel.

They will work in a pistol round ball twist of 30to 1. However, keep in mind that that short barrel won't efficiently burn all that much of a powder charge.

I have some REAL molds, I really don't like them and in a tight bore gun, or gun with very wide rifling, it can really bruise the palm to start down the barrel.
