SOLD Lyman Uberti 1858 navy

Lyman made by uberti 1858 navy .36 caliber. This is the smaller frame version no longer made. Gun is in good shape. No rust. Bluing is fading on cylinder. Its Been awhile since I shot it. But I recall it shoots close to point of aim. $ 245.00 this includes shipping. Will take money order or certified check.

Kind of surprised that nobody has latched onto this pistol... I’m not fond of the Remingtons but if I was to buy one it would be the smaller frame Uberti or an original.

I agree, My personal opinion is for looks and nostalgia you go with the Colts. For a shooter the Remington's

The barrel is 6 3/8 measuring from the cylinder.

This is what it looks like beside a full size Uberti. The frame is a bit smaller. The modern Uberti .36 is built on the same frame as the .44. Which to my understanding is not how the originals were built.

For the record, the Remington Navy models, according to Flayderman's Guide were, "Substantially identical to New Model Army but smaller."

IMO, it is a shame that Uberti quit making the correctly sized Navy Remington's and went the cheap way, just installing a smaller bore barrel and cylinder chambers in a big Army frame. That's the sort of thing I would expect from Palmetto and the other no name Italian companies but not from Uberti who up to now had pride in making correct reproductions.

Nothin wrong with Palmetto. I have 2 of they're direct ignition pistols.

Can the nipples be removed without difficulty? Please verify.

Reason I ask some folks do not remove the nipples (and use anti-seize when re-installing) when cleaning and they become frozen in the cylinder.

Yes they come out easily. The gun is in good shape for its age. It’s been cared for.

Going to buy the pistol, will give it a try in line matches. I am interested in how it shoots with it being smaller frame and lighter.

There is a following with line shooters going to .36, less recoil.
