Just got back into central Jersey from Dixon's Muzzleloading in Kempton, PA. Took one of my two .50 cal. Lyman Trade Rifles (both percussion) in due to a crack in the stock. The crack ran along the left side with the wood grain, on the opposite side from the caplock, about four inches across to where the breech hooks in.

As soon as I uncased the rifle, Greg Dixon said "Let me have a look at it". Ten to fifteen minutes later, as I was looking over the assortment of new & used rifles on display, he calls me over to the counter. "Here you go Dave, I put a new stock on it for you" :shocked2: . I was just totally amazed! Greg had switched the stock to one that looks even nicer, transfered the tang, barrel, furniture, peep sight, lock, etc. and I got a new end cap and a new butt plate to boot :) .

Then I said, "how much for the new stock?" and Greg says to me "no charge, Lyman will cover this". I was blown away! Never have I ever received while-you-wait service for a gun repair! And covered by a warranty too!

I am truly thankfull that I picked Dixon Muzzleloading Shop to buy my BP supplies. This store was reccomended to me by several other members of the Old Bridge Rifle & Pistol Club's BP League. Even though it's about a 1.5 hour drive, it's well worth it!

I can't speak highly enough about the prompt, courteous service I received! They stand behind what they sell!

Still a bit in shock,

Dave

I have always had good luck with Lyman. I lost the rear wedge pin (my fault) while hunting. I called Lyman and wanted to buy one. They sent me one free of charge. When I was building my GPR kit I had a few questions. They answered all my questions in a fast and friendly manner. I am very happy with Lyman products and their customer service  .

You won't find any better people than the Dixons. They are always great to help anyone.

My first flintlock was a Lyman Great Plains. I too had the same experience with Chuck at Dixons. I took the gun in for a minor adjustment in the wedge pins. I handed the gun over and went shopping....Came back to the counter an hour or so later ( if you have never been to dixons its easy to get lost there for hours) with my arms full. Chuck handed me back the gun with new pins he bent to fit nice and tight, plus he informed me he did some work on the lock and stock to let it line up better with the barrel. Great first flinter. Now Im hooked on Dixons Fair as well. We all owe Chuck a debt of gratitude ---even those of you who never met the guy. He does for our love of Blackpowder what the Cal Ripkin does for Baseball. :hatsoff:

Both Chuck and Greg are great and REALLY know their stuff and willing to share info.

Yeah they're great. :hatsoff:
I was there recently with my Bess and a rusted-in tang screw I couldn't remove. He took it out in about 10 minutes, no charge. And I didn't buy it from him either.

Hello i was in the store monday while greg, did the work on your gun, you are correct it is a great place to do your black powder shopping. i only work 10 minutes away and often spend my lunch hour there. just got a 45 cal. sanftl schuetzen bondini rifle from them , mr. dixon (chuck) said to try 10-15 gr.of 3f a 440 ball with 010 mil patch and see how it shoots. well i took the targets in on monday to show him the results. just great. i am sure we will see one another again at the kempton candy store (my wife bess name for dixon's).

My wife calls it by a few choice names as well :rotf: heck I now have to leave the plastic at home when I go... :rotf:

Bill

I started with nothing, and still have most of it left!

Well next time we're both their on a monday, we'll have to do lunch at the Kempton Inn across from the Mill. Show us all those targets ya had with ya!

All the best, Dave

Someone encourage them to improve their website!

In this state, there is NO good BP suppler. Track of the Wolf is 6 hours from here, with limited hours for walk-ins. I'm always looking for a good website to buy from because of this.

Ya, I know what you mean about the website.

You could always determine what your needs are by looking at someone else's site or a catalog, and then give them a call and place an order. Seems everytime I go there I here a packing tape gun in use.

All the best, Dave
