Anyone heading up to the island this coming weekend (23rd-24th)??
It's supposed to be a big doin's, but it's their first bi-annual. I'm heading up there to 'vouz, but heard that they've had some run-ins with the fire marshall about camping.
All I know is that they're putting a bunch of us up in some of their summer dorms for nothin'. Can't beat that price. Guess they're pretty serious about getting people there, eh?

Let us know how it went....Sounds like it could
be a very good time or ...... Let us know.
snake-eyes :hmm:

I was up there the second week of August and had a great time. The Jeager battalion of Roger's Rangers were camped there that weekend.

ey guys,

what is this event? I had to move to NC to finally hear about all of the great ML things going on back in the great white north. :) I was up there with the family in July and had a wonderful time. The picture actually looks like the fort on the mainland and not the island. Do they still have the big meeting with the voyageurs (sp?) taking the canoes to the island? I try to make it a point to get up to the Big Mac every year I make it home. Good memories.

Yes, the picture I posted is Ft. Michilimackinac. The Island fort didn't have anything different than usual going on.

Since I found out about this forum just a few days ago, I've been poking around here and there in the older posts. I found this one and recognized it immediately. My 26-year old son is a Rogers Rangers reenactor and participated in this event. My wife and I and our six-year old grand-daughter ( the grand-daughter was dressed period correct)were about six feet to the right of whoever took this picture!
