G/Day Folks, I bought a Leather Water Bottle at a Medieval Fayre Years ago and have been intrigued about how they where made ever since so I thought I'd have a crack at a small Project first. The Flask is approx. 4.5" x 3" with a 5/8th Spout.
The only Leather I had on hand was Football Leather and I was not sure if it would be suitable as I don't know if it is Vegie Tanned as recommended in the instructions I had http://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/tutor ... Flask.html It seemed to work pretty well. I Used an Awl to punch the Stitching Holes then Stitched it together by Hand with a Saddle Stitch.
I also did not have enough Beeswax on Hand in order to Melt it and immerse the Flask in it so I heated the Block of Wax, heated the Flask then rubbed the Wax on the Flask, heated the Flask again and the Wax soaks into the Leather. I repeated this many times.
I Whittled the Stopper from a fallen Eucalypt Branch and Bored the Hole using a Traditional T Handle Auger.
Now I just gotta buy the Muzzle Loader to go with it, should have it in 5 or 6 Weeks
regards Jacko
