so i have a traditions/cva flask i do like a bit but their was no way to nicely carry it/ clip it to something. me having a lathe and some brass i decided to machine something of my own to make it a bit nicer (in my opinion) also i will be purchasing at least 1 more to carry different types of powder and will machine different spouts probably unless i can find them in the right sizes. anyways point is i can now put color coded beads or lanyards on them to easily identify what powder is in what flask. let me know what you guys think i know its not really a traditional flask style (i don't think i actually don't know a lot about the history i just enjoy black powder shooting)

Hey, looks good to me. I try to be as traditional as I possibly can afford to, especially rifle/pistol wise, but I still have quite a few gadgets that make the sport a little more convenient and pleasurable that are not traditional at all even though they may even be made out of brass.

makes sense personally im into steam-punk aesthetically so a bit all over from older things to some newer things that look older.

I'm sure that he is thinking that it would be easier to use. If you are left handed having the flask on your right side might be easier to use. I'm sure you have been using your flask and find its placement working for you.

Thanks for showing a simple modification that can make using our gear easier, although the flask hanging on the strap can make for a rattling branch catching thing to aggravate one while hunting in the woods.

lol yeah i just target shoot with an 1858 new army at least that's all ive done so far. i just put it on the right for well idk why. just kinda did ill probably hang it off my belt in all actuality. or maybe hang it off whatever i figure out to do for paper cartridge bag. im thinking a block of wood with a bunch of holes drilled in it in a canvas or leather bag of some sort.

sounds like a plan,im going to do the drilled wood for a cartridge carrier, but put it in my leather satchel for now.

that's one hell of a bomb you have under your chin, I would find a more out of the way place for it. nice job.

Good Job .....my only concern is that if you are doing a lot of walking, the lid with the spout or the bottom with your mod could possibly come loose from all the bouncing around. You could lose some or all of your powder if you didn't notice it.

looks pretty good from over here. I'd take it on a 'shakedown cruise' to see where it best fits your rig.

make good smoke!

I like it! I have the smaller version of this flask that would likely take very well to this modification.

Right nice job.... :hatsoff: but the proximity to the gun being fired would make me nervous....Also not a fan of dangly things swinging around.

I also have the short version of that flask ....It's one of my favorites...fits nicely in a bag or pocket.

yeah was just a demo in the shop when i actually use it i plan on having it on my belt. i may pick up the short version also the bottom cap- nozzle cap i put on as tight as i possibly could if it does wiggle itself loose ever i may blue loctite it on and only use the top. further testing/use will determine if that is necessary or not.

Getting the end caps off, with those fine brass threads can be difficult over time from the BP sitting in it....I rub a little beeswax into the threads.. makes it screw on and off easier.

i will have to try that on the one i want to be able to open maybe that'll help keep the other one stuck on where i want it.
