I've been needing a new flint wallet for a while now and I finally got around to making one. This one is a vast improvement on the old one I had made in both looks and function. I know it's too modern for a lot of folks here but life is too short to go around with ugly equipment. I made this out of deer hide and the inlays are dyed ring lizard. I used rare earth magnets for the clasping mechanism and sewed it all up by hand using artificial sinew. Now it's time to go out and kill some more squirrels!

This forum does say "Traditional Only - no modern designs. Do not post items unrelated to Muzzleloading. This is not a "general craft" category."

To no one in particular - Were flint wallets available "back then" or are they a modern invention?
I don't know, so I'm hoping someone can shed light on this question.

Personally, I carry my flints in a small leather bag. However, with as often as I need to change a flint, 4-5 flints are a 10 year supply...

It's flashy but I like it. Makes me wonder if there was died leather from the period times?

:shake: :nono: not something I would carry to a trek or an event, in fact I doubt I could have any use for it at all. However such small purses were known back in the day it's all leather, VERY well done easy on the eyes and ML related. It's at least as correct to be here as patch knifes or such.
Smile and enjoy fine work
