Simmer the bones in tea, coffee or walnut hull dye and pull them out to check for the color of your choice every little bit. This gives the bone a nice mellow look and tones down the eye-searing white of bleached bone. Allow to dry then hit them with some steel wool. I don't seal my bone/antler as I prefer the patina that develops with handling.......
