Mahogany stain

Has anyone used a mahogany stain over walnut to get a darker color to it?

Yes, I regulary mix stain colors. On my last rifle I mixed Minwax Ebony stain in my tung oil.

This is a picture of the ebony stain mixed in the tung oil. This is also European walnut, which in my opinion is walnut in name only. There the similarity ends.

This is mahogany stain on American walnut. Remember it will add a red tint to your gun. And different pieces of walnut will react differently.

Wow,that is reddish. I've used it on oak and it was darker than that. I figured the walnut would be darker.

This is mahogany stain on english walnut. I personally do not believe in staining walnut because it clouds the figure. In this case it is what tthe finish was like on some english sporting rifles so I replicated it.
