I have been rebuilding a parts revolver and have all the parts except the barrel wedge. The gun is a 36 caliber C&B and I have tried 2 wedges from Dixie, both were too small. The mark stamped on the left side of the frame is a Centaur, a sideways "T" and an arrow(?). My thought is that it may be a Spanish made gun. Any thoughts? TIA. Emery

Mazo. Centaur is a Belgium made gun. They were made for the CW centennial. Very high quality work in these guns. They are considered to be quite collectible in Europe. There is a group of people dedicated to the collection of Centaur arms. Here is a link to their website. http://www.1960nma.org/

The story on the Centaur's is that they were made by some of the original Colt contractors in Belgium and made with the same tooling. So supposedly a Centaur is as close as you can get to an original.

I bought a Centaur .44 Army at an antique store. It is at Mike Lea's getting fixed up. Some idiot filed off the cylinder lock.

Andy, thanks for the information. I guess I should have asked this a few years ago as I am in the process of converting it to 22RF. When I got the initial parts, there was only the receiver and cylinder. I've been acquiring and making the needed parts over the years and am almost ready to put it together. May do another rust blue on it. I know I shouldn't be discussing this here, just got off the topic. Thanks again.

Mazo - to help the Centaur society account for the guns would you be willing to provide the serial number to them? They would at least know that one more was accounted for. I believe Long Johns Wolf, one of the officers, is a member of this forum. Perhaps you could send him a PM.

I am fortunate to own two of the Centaurs, both excellent guns. For more on the marque, their web site is http://www.1960nma.org.

A .36 cal Centaure! What a find. Found a prototype of a .36 cal. Leech & Rigdon made by the Centaure folks 5 weeks ago. I would love to get more details and send a PM.
