I am interested in making traditional paper cartridges for my 1861 Enfield Musketoon. Does anyone know of any resources on how to make them? Any information would be great.

I was thinking about how to make these myself. I may try an experiment using waxed paper, or maybe butchers paper??? My purposes would be to use them to hol.d pre-measured powder charges for hunting

Dixie Gun Works has both the materials, and instructions in the back of their catalog that can get you there. $5.00 for the catalog.

The dixie catalog is really a great reference book even if you never buy anything else from them! :hmm:

Everything you might ever want to know about the original cartridges and how they were/are made:
http://www.researchpress.co.uk/firearms/british/enfield/cartridge.htm

And if you haven't found it yet, this might be useful:

I have a p.1858 2-band rifle, not a musketoon, but I haven't gotten around to making the cartridges yet.

Regards,
Joel
