Mammoth Tooth Knife

here's one i just finished. saw a knife with mammoth tooth scales and i had to give them a try. forgot that dentine in teeth was the second hardest natural material and also one of the most brittle. this stuff is not for the beginner. it would light up on the inside as i was grinding it on my belt sander. the blade is seki city damascus from japan. enjoy!

Cool! I know Mammoth Ivory is some amazing stuff to mess around with, haven't seen Mammoth tooth up close yet though. Pretty cool having a knife handle thats 20,000 - 40,000 or more years old though. :thumbsup:

Beautiful san-mai and damascus blade. The handle is awesome as well. Very difficult stuff to work!

I've seen mammoth teeth used as the mouths of old kris sheaths from Malaya. Gotta admire those fellows, working the stuff without power tools.

Wow that is the most unusual pattern for a knife handle I have ever seen. I have used mammoth tusk for scales before but not the tooth material. In fact I don't know if i have even seen mammoth tooth sold for knife making material. Really a neat looking knife. Len
