I can’t believe how fast the lock time is on my Kibler Fowler, fast and consistent. I am impressed at how well the lock is engineered, it is a piece of art, it seems all the sparks are directed straight into the pan and It’s pretty easy on flints as long as they are installed correctly. English flints last the longest in mine. My gun naturally points as well and hits where you aim it. I was shooting PRB today and was shooting into about a 6” group at 40 yards off hand with a wicked heat mirage because I brought the gun out into -10f air and the barrel was still warm from the house, still shot well. My shot patterns have been very promising too. I did find some thin denim to patch my .600 round balls that made loading pretty easy. Anyways, it is a great gun and I feel spoiled to have a kit that not only functions so well but is historically correct and easy to put together plus it’s affordable, such a deal!

A flintlock with fast ignition is a blessing ! Here's a VDO a fellow made for me , of him shooting the N.W. gun I made for him ... The fast ignition , the BING ! of the ball hittin the steel ...then the grin !! Love it ! Good stuff ! Sure glad your loving your Kibler !!

That would be good for me with a flintlock rifle at 40 yards off hand!
The group is a direct reflection of the lock speed I think. The contour of the barrel also helps with consistency in aiming as you can use the breach as a reference point. I’ll have lots of time this week to bird hunt so I imagine I’ll shoot my first birds with it. There are lots of Hungarian partridge this year. So what is a heavy charge in a 20 ga flintlock? I can’t really find a reference on minimum and maximum loads for them. So far everything I’ve shot has had an acceptable pattern for bird hunting. I’d like to load heavier shot charges for hunting birds though. My last flintlock Fowler was a Dunlap halfstock Fowler, it was a 12ga and didn’t pattern as well as this gun with even with a much larger shot charge, the lock time was much slower too.

You're making me want to step up getting one of these. I had planned on getting in line day one then decided to wait. Too many other projects in the fire to do a kit. Finished a used 70s ish flint I picked up from the classifieds here today after over a year of slow walking it. Now an old Allis Chalmers B awaits me.
I’m usually a little let down with my gun purchases especially flintlocks, I will find something I don’t like, not that I won’t like the gun but I’m good at picking things apart. Not so with this gun, it has exceeded my expectations and that almost never happens. The ergonomics are just fantastic and the parts supplied were just awesome. I was notified my 16ga kit is ready to ship so I’m excited to get to work on it and see how that gun handles/shoots. They posted a bunch up for quick ship today, just sayin’ lol.
