A while back, I bought some Medallion Silver Lotion, a solution which deposits silver directly on brass and bronze without using electricity.
I wanted to silver plate the grip straps and trigger guards on my reproduction Colt pistols because that's the way they were originally sold.
It took a bit of futzing with it before I learned the best techniques for applying it but it did do a nice job of silver plating my guns.
It's only negatives are now that silver has gone up from $5/ounce to $30/ounce the price of the solution has gone up too.
Also, because the reaction between the solution and the brass base creates the electricity to make it work, as soon as a solid layer of silver is applied the process stops.
That results in a real thin, about one molecule thick coat.
