markings on barrel

was thinking of refinishing the pistol or selling for parts

Reassemble it and take some pics. The "CF" is actually GP under a crown. They are British proof marks. The remains of the other mark is just below the clearer one.

It is a British barrel with London proofs. The slash marks on the bottom are likely production marks to identify the components that go with an individual arm. The dots on the breech plug are a mystery to me.

thanks for the reply and information.shame the dots are not the proof markings of a world famous gun maker
