Sorry no pics. But I've seen a blunderbus with "MW" and "O" marked on the barrel. Any suggestions as to their meaning? TIA.

Maker or inspection marks?
I have a barrel with several different letter combinations stamped on the underside. O, P, W, PB and BS on the underside and a regimental marking (N*I*C*D*24) on the top side.
I think we need a little bit more information before we can begin to speculate. Were on the barrel are these stamps? Are they carefully placed or kind of randomly? Is the "MW" a single stamp or two seperate letters placed together?

I know I have a reference guide somewhere that gives the initials of known Tower proof and pattern inspectors. I can't find it.

The two initials are most certainly the inspector's cartouche or initials. If I can ever find my dumb list I can give you a date range of when (the barrel at least) was made.

Thanks guys. I'm going to see if the case can be opened for me to examine them. I'll bring a digital camera so I can post pics for you guys to see.
