Maybe A GSR

Got an extra fifty barrel for the flinter GPR that's been sitting now forever and thinking about having it lined. Been threatening to do something with it forever and never did.
Reliming means I can have anything that strikes my fancy. With the full length GPR barrel a .40 is all I'd care to carry around and shoot offhand so maybe oughta bob the barrel? Or maybe leave it long and do an octagonal to tapered round with a flexible rod?
I'm not up to carrying around a museum piece .38 bore with an inch across the flats. :haha:

So hey, any yall putting small bore barrels on GPR's? If so, what did you end up doing?

My .54 flint GPR came with a barrel that'd been left sitting for a bit (several years?) after firing without being cleaned. It's currently in the process of being converted to a .56 cal like Liver-Eatin' Johnson's, so I've got little to contribute. I can say that even a .54 GPR gets heavy on the trail and wastes no time doing it! In response to your query, I'd probably go no smaller than a .45 just to save weight. A .45 loaded with 35-40gr of FFFg and loaded with a tight-fitting patch makes for a wonderful squirrel gun.
