I bought a .45 flintlock fullstock rifle at a gunshow today. There are no markings on the barrel, but it's 35" long, has round bottom grooves, and the rear sight is dovetailed 14.5" from the breech. Looks like a small Siler lock. The barrel and lock are browned and it was an excellent job. All the furniture is brass and brass tacks were added along the forestock.

On the triggerguard is etched McCloud but I don't have a clue as to whether it's the builder or original owner. I'll have to wait until my stepdaughter gets home with her camera before I can add pics.

It's a modern gun, not original. Anyone out there know of any gunbuilders named McCloud?

Yes, sir  It'll be a lot easier to help with photos. Got a feeling that "etched" name on trigger guard will be a previous owner. Not the kind of place a maker would mark.

Interesting design and workmanship. And praise the Lord he did't go over-board on the tacks...rather, just enough to be tasteful! good buy...now the fun begins!
